SELF-PORTRAITS
“Sometimes common reality surpasses fantasy.”
Step into the surreal real world of the visionary thinker, rebel artist and designer Miguel Adrover, where his fashion work, his own body and photographic eye come together in a mesmerizing series of 365 self-portraits, perfected over the course of seven years in his family home in Majorca. Embodying the Three Graces of fashion, the designer, model and the photographer, Adrover becomes the compelling characters and the shamanic visions from New York, Manaus, Egypt, Cuba and Majorca, which he created from fabrics. His offering, here, is to join him on an enchanting, abundant journey of real-life magic.
Drescription
This book contains Miguel Adrover’s “body of work” captured on 432 pages, 365 of which are full-page self-portraits, with Adrover wearing the silhouettes in the same chronological order as they were shown on the runway.
The garments are the original creations worn by the models on the catwalk. Divided into nine sections, one for each collection, the book includes texts narrated by Adrover, describing in poetic detail the atmosphere and the inspiration behind each presentation, beginning with “Manaus-Chiapas-NYC,” presented in 1999, and ending with “OUT OF MY MIND” in 2012.
